In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was important for Walgreens to reassure their customers and communities that it was safe to shop at Walgreens, as safety has always been—and continues to be—their number one priority. Created together with VMLY&R, the “Safety” campaign was purposefully upbeat and aimed to bring a sense of ease around picking up everyday essentials. The execution approach showcased different folks placing all different products into their sanitized Walgreens basket/cart as a nod to individuality and a reminder of the wide range of products at Walgreens. A very human and relatable way to merge messages about store sanitization and social distancing with purchasing moments. Several tactical variations for summer and their new curb-side pick up service ran across TV, digital and social platforms and successfully positioned Walgreens as “everyone’s place, for healthy and safe” through these unusual times.
