Demystifying mental health in adland's C-suite

For many C-suite executives, maintaining a certain confident demeanor is key, which can make opening up about any mental health struggles that much tougher, especially since these leaders are responsible for the livelihoods of dozens, hundreds, or in some cases, thousands of employees.

But executive leaders are human too, often harboring those same feelings of anxiety, stress, and depression that can affect anyone.

How do adland execs maintain their mental health?

Jennifer DaSilva, president of Berlin Cameron, has chosen the gym as her mental health sanctuary after trying therapy.

"I start my day at the gym because I can squeeze it in early in the morning and it gives me a boost of energy for the day. I actually had a therapist that I went to but I found that committing to a weekly meeting stressed me out more," she said. "It almost turned into another chore, having to maintain an appointment with a schedule as busy as mine. I worried about it more than anything else."

At the gym, DaSilva can switch gears with ease, balancing physical activity with work, in a way that helps her relieve stress. "People are always amazed that I can get work done from the gym. I’m a good multitasker, what can I say?"
